Folks. I know you are tired with the likes of Tuco. I see why. So,
here is the solution. Charge everyone to play. I know you want to
make it so that those who can't pay can play. But, as I see it, if you
do not want people trashing the site, then charge. Or, you can
remove posting rights from non-pawnstars. What do you think?
Tuco is annoying, but unless he's bringing down the server or something he's not trashing the
site. Deliberately offensive posts should be censored (more moderators possibly?), but that's
no reason to block all non-subscribers. If you're serious about this, then I think you're
treating tuco far more seriously than he deserves.
If your post is meant to be ironic, then I generally agree with you, I think this is a lot of fuss
about nothing.
Well, I am half serious. Everyone complains, but no one has a
solution. Besides, you are restricted to 10 games, cannot post a
profile, cannot play in tournaments if you are not a pawnstar. So,
what is wrong with no posting rights either? If you have a question,
that is what the feedback can be used for. After reading Dave's post
the other day, I think this is the way to go.
i'm not a pawnstar. first of all i dont have the money to spend on online chess. i love this site and
it would be cool to support it, but there are a lot of people that play here and for whatever reason
are not pawnstars. but obnoxious people like tuco can come as pawnstars or non pawnstars, just
ignore the guy/gal, thats the best solution i can think of. i dont post messages very often but i
wouldnt like to have the right to do so taken away because of tuco. thats giving tuco a lot more
credit then he/she deserves
(oh and i can and do have a profile)
I tend to believe that a cleaner solution might be to have an "ignore"
list such that is someone is on your version of that list, you will not
see any post from same person. There might well be some technical
difficulties in that you might not see threads in reply; personally, I do
not find this that disturbing since I did not want to see the post in the
first place and probably have no reason to see any replies to it. The
most important part of the idea is that since one does not see the
post, one is not inclined to reply. Without replies, why would such ppl
who want/need/crave the attention, post in the first place?
