OK - I made some progress. All I could find motivation to do was throw some leftover Chinese food into microwave. Not what I wanted but some food at least.

CANDLES!!! Geez -- for years, everyone gave me candles for Christmas. If everything was as disastrous and the Y2K predictions, I had enough candles to last until ... well ... now! TONS of candles! But won't the whirlpool make them all wet?
