if it's type 2 and you are overweight, cut the fat, start eating right, exercise, and you migh even be okay depending on how bad it is. all excess tissue you have requires insulin, which forces your spleen to produce more than it can handle, so it kinda burns out. so that's why you need to get fit. the fun days of gluttony are over for you I'm afraid, unles ...[text shortened]... cially bad for diabetes. :-( and if you smoke, you just got another forcing reason to cut it.
Spleen? I thought is was the Pancreas that makes insulin. People can live without Spleens, but not without their Pancreas.

My mom has type 1. It's scary, scary stuff.

oh, you're right. I wasn't sure about the translation and googled "spleen insulin", got loads of hits about spleen cells producing insulin, and made the jump. now that I look more carefully, it's some kind of a treatment...

I'm guessing that they use spleen cells to replace dead pancreas cells. They can sometimes do that with other pancreas cells, but I guess if they're (spleen & pancreas cells) structure is similar, it could work.

The spleen has to be good for something, right? πŸ˜›

I have long suspected I had it, but I fear doctors. πŸ˜•
Anyone else a diabetic, and could you share your experiences?
Adversity, Ice. You've handled adversity with courage and grace under pressure many times before. I've total confidence you will do so again.

Maybe more sex is the answer, it couldn't hurt anyway.
