Those could be signs of autism / Asperger's Syndrome. If you find it difficult to communicate with your friend, I suggest that you try to communicate over the internet instead of face-to-face communication. This will eliminate most of the problems, as they are directly related to real-life interaction (reading body language and speech tone, tuning into the rhythm of a conversation etc.). If you'd know someone only over the internet, you might not notice any of these problems.
