I would love to get graded coins but all of the horror stories of fakes keep me away.
Especially the eBay fakes.
The coins I collect are old and have history but it would cost more to fake them than the price of a real one.
Mostly old circulated dimes and quarters.
If I ever make it to a coin show/auction I do have a wish list 🤗
1921 peace dollar ms60 or ...[text shortened]... gle ms70.
An 1858 large cent any grade (officially Canada's first coin)
The list goes on and on...
I see these ads on TV about gold coated coins where they say 'each coin contains 14 MILLIGRAMS of gold' and they want like 20 bucks and if you do the math, 14 milligrams of gold clocks in at maybe a buck depending on the price that day. I can't WAIT for my order of 100 coins to come....
LoL true.
A lot of old people fall for those scams.
I showed my mom a one ounce silver bar and told her it was pure silver and she didn't believe me.
She said that items could be silver plated but not pure silver.
I guess she only saw silver plated items her whole life and assumed that was the only way you could have silver.
Another time she told me to tell the judge that putting me in American prison is expensive and it would save them money if they just deported me back to Canada.
She thought it was stupid to spend all that money to keep me locked up and then deport me later.
I wish I had of told the judge what she said.
It would have been good for a laugh.
@patzeringsaid Any collectors out there?
I collect coins.
Nothing expensive, I collect for the history.
Tomorrow I'm getting some dimes from the WWII era. 🤗
I collect coins, and bank notes, any denomination or value and then I try to hide them from my Missus, grown up kids and grandchildren.
I’m not very good at it, especially the hiding bit but the family seem to enjoy the spectacle.

I use a safe deposit box.
I'll keep a few items at home to play with but 99% of my stash is at the bank.
