Yesterday. At work. One of the many supervisors I have to labour under came up to me and said: "You're not worth the money you cost."

How's that for motivation?

I was so stunned I just nodded. Now I'm thinking...maybe I should rip her head off and piss down her neck.
What do y's all think?

I think she may have been telling the truth otherwise why would she say it??

I think it's better than being paid less than you're worth.
Be grateful.

Yes...however...I am being paid less than I'm worth.

edit: She obviously just doesn't see things in the proper context.

reading between the lines, if the comment was said seriously then concider it an unoffical verbal warning.

As for it being a horrible thing to say, if it gets you to pull your socks up to start earning what you are being paid for, then her comment to you has served its purpose.

It's not.
I'm seriously thinking of flooring her with a well placed Glasgow kiss.

I guess she's a hard worker, yes.
She's good at my job. She's obviously never been trained in Human resource management though...

Take it as a wake up call.....your days are numbered there. A supervisor would never say anything that callous unless your performance was really substandard.

"worth" is subjective.
If you think you're underpaid, go somewhere that pays more.

I agree. I think they are hoping you'll quit.

I think, if you do not know what the source of the comment was. You have every right to ask for clarification. It would be best to find out why the supervisor felt it was necessary to tell you that. Then and only then can you decide a proper response.
