If you do, you should take some pictures of people and participate in the "People" round of the RHP Photography Competition. And if you don't, that's an even better reason to participate - most people don't like to have their picture taken, so it's a good way to annoy them.
Here are the rules:
You can enter up to three pictures. The topic is "people", including children (originally, a separate "Children" round was planned, but we decided to drop that). The deadline for entering is Friday 25 November. Send your pictures to rhpphotocomp@gmail.com . I'll need the following information:
* Title
* Comment: Advanced editing, for example removing or adding objects, use of special effect filters or major colour adjustments, must be mentioned. Other comments, for example details about the equipment and settings, basic editing or some background info on the picture, are optional, but encouraged. If in doubt whether something is basic or advanced editing, just ask, or even better, simply give a little more information than absolutely necessary.
* Your RHP nickname (that won't be revealed before the round is over)
Please keep the file size under 200 kB, and the picture shouldn't be bigger than 1024x768 (I'd suggest 800x600).
The pictures will be displayed on my webspace. You can choose to have your pictures removed when the round is over. You can also choose to leave them there, but have your name (real name or RHP nick) added.
If you have further questions, ask them here or send me a PM.

Originally posted by Freddie2004I don't know what editing software you have (if any), but in Adobe Photoshop and IrfanView (which are the two programs I use) you choose to save the picture as JPEG (I forgot to mention that before, all pictures for the competition should be JPEGs), and then you'll get some options for the compression. You may have to experiment a bit to get the right file size and quality. If you don't have any editing software, you can download IrfanView for free at www.irfanview.com .

If you have windows xp:
You can open the picture using 'windows picture and fax viewer' (this is the default opening picture software thing). Then the picture loads up and you look down at your keyboard. there should be a key covered in grime and ancient cigarette ash and coffee stains, it's called "Print Screen", and nobody uses it. Press this key. Go on. Do it.
THEN you open up paint by clicking on your start menu and discovering a new item there called "Accessories". In these "Accessories" you'll find all sorts of useless nonsense along with the ever timeless Paint application.
Once paint has loaded, click edit, paste, and OH MY GOD IT'S PASTED YOUR ENTIRE DESKTOP AS AN IMAGE.
Crop the image you want and save as a jpg. It'll be nice and small, like 80kb or something.
Originally posted by hopscotchInteresting solution. I have never used that tea-stained key. What about the quality, though?
