Still complaining about this ? I don’t complain that pubs serve Shirley Temples when I want Guinness.
Some instant coffee, seltzer water, a drop of dark-chocolate syrup, and just a splash of vodka might bring it a little closer, though.

Again, a post that gets several green thumbs will appear on the Recommended post page and will reach a wider audience, often attracting additional thumbs.

It's not rocket science.
So, green-thumb science?

Actually I think there's a parallel on the (Linux-related) Distrohub site, where to my mind it seems that some of the entries at the top of the most-viewed list must linger there exactly because entries at the top of the chart are probably the ones people are most likely to check out.

I think the anonymous thumbs feature should be jetisoned because it is infantile not because it is abused by an unknown number of posters.
Take it to the Federation, Picard.

Nor is it "rocket science" to realize that there are posters here who have multiple accounts for thumbing purposes like Executioner Brand and that Stella who was using upwards of 6 accounts to cause a storm of thumbs at the time Duchess64 self-destructed.
Perhaps someday Dissertations will be written on how differently popular movies of the 1940s might have been scripted if thumbing had been included as a plot element.

I appreciate that (as far as I know or remember) you have never accused me of running sock-puppet accounts (which I haven't). Thank you for that.

On my side, I hope you appreciate that I have never considered you to be a pearl-clutcher, although perhaps it could be said that a string or two of pearls might look nice on you. Much of art (and by extension, fashion) involves interesting juxtapositions.

The first 9 or 10 probably came from this forum and the additional 10 from seeing (and liking) the post on the Recommended Post page.

By all accounts FMF wasn't very popular in the Debates forum. I guess a few of those gave trev's post a green thumb.

It is amusing though how you physically can't come to terms with the notion that those 20 thumbs were from 20 individuals.

"By all accounts"? I haven't posted there in over a decade and I was "not very popular" with 3 or 4 far-right dunces who don't post anymore [utherpendragon, generissimo, Eladar, and the odious whodey].

Among the progressives and middle-of-the-roaders, and even some thoughtful conservatives, I was somewhat celebrated.

Suzianne has for years been bleating about how I was supposedly not popular on that forum, but it was one of her many, many forum-combat lies. If listening to her has ended with you saying "by all accounts" then you are gullible.

You've been lied to. Bear that in mind.

So 22 green thumbs as of now, how many people do you think have been involved?

divegeester can answer for himself.

I'd say maybe 7 or 8.

Multiple account users have seized upon your quip.

Just as people seized upon the opportunity to thumb down Indonesia Phil and Woodgirl because they relish the "if you lay down with dogs you get fleas" toxicity.

Relentless Red spoke about this kind of misanthropic forum murk openly.

I believe they even built a statue in your honor and worship at it most Saturdays.

Conservatively, I would say 19. (But could be the full 22).

You've been lied to. And you've fallen for it. Deflect all you want.
