Hi guys, I got a P3 733 Mhz computer given to me from work. It had windows 98 on it and the tech person who gave it to me said that he had to download some drivers. I saw he had created a folder on C drive which was called Drivers. In that folder he had the following 4 folders: I think these were the names but i can't be sure: 1.Sound 128 bit 2.Network card 3.Video Card? 4. some folder and inside was a .inf installer thing.
I figured all the drivers were on the Windows ME cd so I installed Windows ME and now the sound is horrible and the monitor looks like garbage. It only has the 16 colors, 600 x 480 pixel option. There is nothing else to choose from.
Where can I find the drivers for the sound and video/monitor?
The tech guy is on vacation and I finish this job next week and then i'm going back to school, so it's really bad timing 🙁
Can anyone help me?

Monitor : Dell E771p , I got the driver for this already.
Display Adapter: Standard PGI Graphics Adapter (VGA).
I'm thinking that might be my problem? The VGA one?
Help me please 🙁

Have you tried to update the drivers in device manager?
[Start, Settings, Control Panel, System icon, and click Device Manager tab.]
Right-click on the particular entry [after expanding with the + sign] and then on update driver.
Failing that, you could have a look here.....

I have updated the drivers but it says that the most recent drivers are being used.
This is what I do not understand. I have used this monitor with my 350 Mhz on Windows ME and all the drivers were fine. I didn't have to download any drivers.
On this P3 733 computer I installed ME and the drivers weren't the new ones so then I installed XP and all the drivers were included in the Cd. XP was running to slow for me and freezing because the computer is slow so i had to go back to ME. But I guess the ME Cd doesn't have the right drivers?
I think both the 350 and 733 have different graphic cards because i'm using the same monitor, just different computers.

Mostly I get options to choose from but right now there are not other options, just 16 colours and 600 x 480 pixels.
Is there a link for the video card maybe? I don't know which video card I have besides the standard VGA I mentioned. Or how to find out which one i have?

You should be able to change resolution and colors from there.
Hey I found some sites so the monitor resolution is fine now. I need two more I believe but I don't know where to get them for free, here is a link to the two I need, the sound and the network one I guess I have bad ones:

Argg...these computers... Now my computer won't shut off. I go to shutdown and it won't off, it restarts after 30 seconds.
They are so frustrating. I wasted over 14 hours on this thing.

First, you have to know what the graphics card is, which will probably require you taking off the case to physically check the card. Once you've done that, go to the graphics card maker and download the drivers for free from them.

I can't find the exact one either.. This is what I have:
3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI TX NIC (3C905B-TX)
And there are so many close ones on this page but not the exact one:

Can it be any 3C905B-TX one?

*Sigh*
If you really must know, its probably because the graphics card is newer than ME, meaning that the driver can't be on the cd because the graphics card doesn't exist yet.
*Types, while looking the other way*
*Sigh*
Now, if you want to fix the problem, just do exactly like I tell you, like 7of9 did in that episode of Star Trek.
