This will be a disappointment for some, and it isn't easy, especially in the light of the recent commotion, but,I'm a grown man,I must face it.
I'm a (partial)cheater!I have used outside assistance in some of my rhp games, and thus broken the TOS.Most of my games is just me,but sometimes I checked fritz for a move or two, sometimes 10-20,depending on the opponent,it doesn't matter,it's all cheating.
Why?Simple,I got frustrated by being beaten all the time by the other cheats, and since nothing was done about it,I tried to level the field. It was wrong,I realise, but I did it,can't turn back the page.
I want to apologise to the honest people I cheated(there must have been some honest ones among them, surely),but not to the cheaters whom I cheated.
So,there you have it,do with me as you see fit.Throw me out, burn me at the stake, execute me,set my account to scratch,etc.....
I will resign my games to who so desires,I will leave the clan,if so desired, and I will lay down my mentor tasks.

Aaah,that feels good,the burden was getting a bit too much to carry.Now I can walk tall again :-}

An ashamed Sir Lot.

Her Fritz has not been making any moves for some time now.I may not be the most believable person right now,but that's the truth 🙂

Dear Sweet Jesus...
What's happening to you all?

Does this forum look like a Cheaters-anonymous meeting point or something?

Don't cheat. If you do...don't own up.
It's that simple.

If you want to cheat, then you carry the guilt. Don't bother other people with it.

It's like someone cheating on their partner and eventually telling the partner..."Because I can't face the guilt no more."

Or in other words: "I'm not telling you I'm cheating because of wanting to be honest, I'm telling you because I can't handle the guilt anymore."

What is a 'partial cheater'? Either someone is a cheat or they're not. If someone uses Fritz to make moves in some of their games, then they're a cheat. There is no defence in saying he cheated in some games but not others. Or that he only cheated when playing people he suspected of cheating. That's like an athlete who has tested positive for drugs saying that he only cheated when racing against other althletes who he believed were taking drugs!

I'm also disgusted with the light-hearted tone of this 'confession'.

"So,there you have it,do with me as you see fit.Throw me out, burn me at the stake, execute me,set my account to scratch,etc....."

In other words, make a big deal over this if you must, but it's really quite trivial.

"Now I can walk tall again"

Unbelievable!

SirLoseALot, why did you volunteer for the cheat-police, and put forward various suggestions about this matter, when you knew you were a cheat yourself?

😠

Disagree. His past opponents will want to know that he's cheated, as will future opponents, if he stays. If he is allowed to stay, people will be able to make an informed decision about whether or not to play with him.

I hope, though, that in addition to posting this, he's informed Russ directly of his behavior.

While I dont totally agree with SirLoseAlot, I can see why he did it. The amount of games iv lost against known cheaters, is getting quite stupid. It would be so easy to fire up deep fritz and smack there cheating arse around, give them a taste of their own engine use. We have to remember that no so long ago cheating wasnt taken seriously on this site. If you were playing against someone using an engine you could either lose the game, tournament, clan game etc or post it in the forums, have your thread deleted and the community gang up against you. I posted a thread that I was playing a cheater, it lasted less than an hour but in that time I was grilled for speaking out. Its hardly surprising that people used engines against engines.

At least SirLoseAlot came out and said it, the message cant have been an easy one to write so the tone of it might not be pleasing to all. However it is here and he has said sorry. There are soooooooooo many cheaters out there that unlike SirloseAlot wont come forward and admit their mistakes. He seeks no benifit from coming forward, he didnt have to, I dont think anyone would have ever suspected him. He came out and admited it because he is an honest person who didnt like to lose against engine users.

Edit : Its nice to see some names up there condeming SirLoseAlot, yet havent lifted a single finger to aid people who are really against cheaters, a few have even gone so far as to tell others to shut up about cheaters and keep it out of the forums. Kick them when they are down hey lads. Thats where the witch hunt idea comes from, its not people who are pointing out other thats cheat, its those that then jump on board and take easy pot shots.

While I may hate JW more than anyone else on this site (almost) if he came out tomorrow and admited he cheated. I wouldnt say another bad word about him. Thats the difference between those who have said "which hunt" and add nasty comments here to someone who has admited it and those that want to highlight cheaters and get them to stop and then leave it at that.

I think it's good that u said it, cuz it must have been hard for you. I can understand u (although I don't even own a chess engine like that), as I play pretty badly and I get frustrated at losing so often even though I'me positive my opponents don't use chess engines. Personally, I'd still play u, because I think by "coming out" you kinda promised you won't do it again and it shows you care.

And you others, I think you should stop picking on him like this, because otherwise the whole load of other people who cheat will never admit it...

I didn't expect logic... Nice post.

SLAL is one of my best friends here at RHP, so I will say nothing but that I am glad he came forward... regardless of how he said it.

I can't throw him under a bus, but can't blame anyone who does. angie88 makes a good point... if we all blast SLAL what is the point in people coming clean?
