If you are using windows, I hear many good things about http://www.videoredo.com/
There is a free trial.

"VideoReDo™ the MPEG editor that lets you edit TV Shows, Movies, and Home Videos in minutes... rather than hours with traditional video editing software. If you use a PVR or DVR, no matter what your expertise, beginner or video expert, you can easily create custom videos, TV shows and movies."

So hopefully will cope with your home video.

No, I don't use Windows.
However, I've seen it recommended many, many numerous times for editting mpeg type files.

I didn't notice those file format types in your second post 😳 , so now I'm not so sure.
On site, it states:
"supports MPEG1 editing (including VCD), MPEG2 and Windows Media Center (MCE) editing , including DVD & SVCD editing, Set Top Boxes like TiVo (with TiVo To Go) and the Siemens M740V, as well as High Definition editing (HD) program stream and transport stream editing."

Worth a try?

DVD Shrink is free. [link in earlier post]

If that doesn't do it, I would try SUPER©

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

"SUPER © does for FREE what other encoders CAN'T do for money".

I use DVD Shrink. It's much better than the DVD COPY program I bought for $100.

BTW, some older models of DVD players won't play burned DVD's.

Second that. DVD Shrink is a great program. It's free and very easy to use.
