People choose their sexuality just as much as you choose what food you like. You can choose your lifestyle (at least to a degree), but not whom you are attracted to.
Originally posted by PocketKingsIf just the idea of sex between two men would put every man completely off like it seems to put you off, why would anyone choose to become gay? Do you really think you could choose to be attracted to men and find the idea of having sex with a woman appalling? If you can't, why are there people who can? Doesn't that mean they would have to be different to start with?

Originally posted by NordlysCould you come into my classroom (i teach 8th grade) and look around and tell me who you think is going END UP being gay? I say END UP because they aren't gay now. I think its much more of a product of how they are raised, where they live, and to some degree their past experiences with women. Its not that they are different, and there is no gay gene. Its the product of many things, but they are not different, just sick in their gay heads

Come on, no one can choose whether they are born black or white or effin rainbow striped. But people chose their sexuality, and if a man choses to be with another man I'm going to make fun of him, alot. Whats he going to do, slap me? And if a woman choses to be with another woman...well then I want to watch.
And I daresay there are gay men who would take offense at your opinion and beat you senseless, not merely follow your stereotype and slap you. Being a jerk crosses all strata of humankind.
All homophobia seems to stem from some baseless fear that the homophobic person might somehow be included in the group he's deriding if he actually voiced support for it, which is just stupid.
As for being repulsed by it, well, too bad. I'm repulsed by right-wing conservatives. There's room for all of us on this planet.
And yeah, what Nordlys said...

Originally posted by PocketKingsEven if that were the case, none of that makes it a matter of 'choice' does it? Either way, you're still wrong.

Originally posted by PocketKingsWhether people's sexuality is pre determined at conception, or whether it is a product of their liftime's stimuli and upbringing, I can assure you that they definately don't choose to be attracted to the same sex. Why would they suffer such humiliation by others?

As for their choice to sleep with same sex partners, are you suggesting that they remain completely celibate or sleep with people of the opposite sex, which they obviously find repulsive, just to fit in with society's obsession of normaility and pigeon holing BS, or to avoid 'offending' bigots like yourself. How rude of them!
I reckon you've read this before, but just for good measure: -

Oh and finally, back to Raq[g]norak's point. I agree entirely. I'm sure if someone called me a p*k* or a n*****, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be in the slightest bit offended. In fact, if someone called me a puff I wouldn't
be either. Political correctness gone crazy if ya ask me.
Originally posted by PocketKingsI think many gay people notice quite early that they are different. But that's mostly about their inner feelings. I wouldn't expect to see that in your classroom. I think in most cases I wouldn't see it in adults either, unless they have chosen to be demonstratively gay.

How comes, then, that many gay people come from families and environments where homosexuality is seen as wrong, sick or evil? How comes that many gay people believe themselves that it's wrong, sick or evil, and still fail to become heterosexual? Or why would anyone choose to be gay in countries where gay people are persecuted, tortured and killed, if they could just choose to be attracted to the opposite sex instead and have an easy and enjoyable life?
they are not different, just sick in their gay heads
So it's not a choice after all, but a sickness? And how would that not make them different? You still haven't answered my question whether you believe you could choose to be attracted to men instead of women if you wanted to.
