Thanks. Any record label recommendations (for joik or classical music)?

From Beat Happening to the Boredoms.

And from The For Carnation to Napalm Death.

EDIT - For some reason I see the spectrum more like a cartesian plane than a straight line. Although I can't really explain what the axes are. 😕

I see it more like a galaxy, one of the big spiraling ones. I think that's sort of what what's-his-face on the other page with the long post was getting at, that's if you have a very diverse music collection than it's tough to pick out the two complete opposites, cause there's no straight line from one genre to another. It makes the thought-process a little more fun though, piecing together the possiblities and such. Anything I can do to take my mind of my ex, right? Meh.

I once listened to Mozart, then Pearl Jam, then Mozart again in the space of one afternoon. That seemed pretty eclectic at the time.

Joanna Newsom and Cannibal Corpse, although I may have downloaded the latter for the purposes of the competition which seems to have evolved.

I win etc.

Cannibal Corpse are cannibal crap. But they do have some great song titles. 😉

However, Joanna Newsom is great. Have you ever heard Nervous Cop? Joanna Newsom with Greg S. from Deerhoof and Zach Hill from Hella.

You listen to Tori Amos and World Music.

You win something alright. Not sure what, though.

I think that's a pretty weak generalisation about a whole genre of music, Starrman, and am surprised to hear it coming from you, a musician.

Have you heard any of the following?

Manu Chao / Amparanoia
BVSC (and all those involved - RIP Ibrahim Ferrer)
Tinariwen

All responsible for some damn good world music, yet all very different.

I reckon *some* world music is cr@p, in the same way that *some* rock music is cr@p, and *most* pop music is cr@p. Not all though.
