Foo kin nighmare as you'll probably know if you have.
As we all know, Americans think they are the centre of the universe 🙁
I had a load of DVD's for sale and as the world knows, DVD's come in different regions.
USA is region 1;
UK and Europe is region 2;
Japan/Asian is region 3;
etc...
Anyway, as I knew Americans would be looking at my ebay UK shop, I thought I'd better state this....
Attention Americans!
All my DVD's are Region 2 and WILL NOT PLAY on American DVD players.
Please DO NOT BID unless your DVD player can adapt to Region 2 UK players.
Please be aware that this will be quoted to you if you are from USA and moan about the DVD not playing properely.
Was this clear enough I ask you?
Sure enough, some bird called Susianne bought a DVD and I sent it to her USA address.
Moan, moan Fkn moan!!!
The DVD didn't play properly.
Wanted a refund and gave me a neg. Coplete half wit.
What should I have done more???

There are plenty of adapters out there.. let her try getting one and plug it up her.. chimney.. that might solve the issue.

No, seriously, do I have a freaking bullseye on my back or what??
On further thought, I was listening to a radio show discussing such things and a listener called in sharing an experience where he woke up next to a girl in college one day and saw a field goal post tattooed on her lower back.
Originally posted by BlackpoolmadI would go overboard. In your warnings, use some all CAPS, and also bold, and large fonts. Further, include those couple of sentences describing what and where the regions. Also, add a sentence explaining why there are regions (or at least your best understanding of why there are regions for DVDs and why DVDs are not universal). And then conclude with a very large repetitive all-CAP bold disclaimer.

As an attorney, I say this informally above for a couple of reasons.
One reason is to cover yourself. Fine or even normal print ain't always adequate to protect yourself.
Two, most audiences don't really pay attention, especially to what they don't understand. And most Americans have no understanding or even fathom the idea that DVDs are region-dependent.
Three, it shouldn't scare your audiences too much to use the bold all-caps larger lettering. You might lose a little business, but at least you may scare away those that buy DVDs they can't use.
Originally posted by BlackpoolmadWell, maybe you could refuse a sale to the American market. You put the ball in the court of the buyer and just go Caviat Emptor, then call them stupid. Perhaps the correct word would be 'fraud'. You know dam good and well what address something is shipping to. It would be easy enough to just say Sorry, no deal, our DVD's don't work in your county.
