On another thread there was discussion about how nothing is really "amazing" despite how frequently that word is used.

It reminded me of this bit from Louis CK:

Amazement is an emotion that expresses strong surprise or astonishment. This emotion is 'typically' the inability to comprehend or believe what one is witnessing due to its extraordinary nature.

Well in fact some of the things Should be amazing, weren't they the new normal.

In fact I believe is air travel would stop for a generation or so the next flight would be amazing again.

Absolutely amazing, all individuals but work as a whole, communicating through nature.

Yeah, agreed.

He shouldn't have done what he did, but they lumped him in with guys like Weinstein who were far worse, then tried to "cancel" him.

The "maybe" bit is comedy gold.

When I was twelve years old, my dad was a college work study student at a company called Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He told us about Voyager I and how they put a golden record on it. One day he told us they let him etch his name somewhere on Voyager. My father died in 2018 and Voyager I is billions of miles away…as you say. I like to think of him hanging out there on Voyager somewhere fixing things on it…a little girl fantasy, I know…

But when we are long gone, Voyager and my dad’s name will still be out there somewhere…

That’s really cool.

Hats off to your Dad.
