Excuse me, friend...

Until recent months, never played bingo in my entire life. Game here is a simplified version with no buy-in and non-cash prizes only. Multiple winners are allowed in each of the three games in each of two rounds called. Two to three dozen folks participate. Typically each will win a few prizes, though rare for anybody to win more than four.

Well, newcomer me got lucky and won the maximum total of all six prizes. Hour or so later when given my general store redeemable slips I noticed there were only five. Mentioned it and was told by Elizabeth of the social activities staff that she had written up all winners when they occured, with non-verbals implying that my count was probably wrong.

After a pregnant silent pause, her assistant Marcus (tall strapping guy from Germany who runs Texas Hold-en Night once a month and whom I've gotten to know quite well) speaks up on my behalf, "Maybe one of Bob's slips got mixed in with someone else's in the numerous small piles". Sure enough the missing one shows up, thanks to Marcus' cool. So wish I had thought to make that simple problem solving suggestion. What's interesting is that Elizabeth and I were both correct in our claims. Roadblock of neither of us seeing the whole picture wouldn't have occurred if either or both of us had accepted the validity of the other's point of view.

Went to bed that night thinking this 'point of view lesson for the day' had general application in many other realms, including robust conversations on RHP public forums. Just before dosing off, I remembered a little 'point of view of a fly' quip from long ago that seemed right on the mark and apropos: One fly says to another fly, "Excuse me, friend but your 'man' is open." -gb

Is it possible for you to say what you want to say in less than 4 paragraphs. Maybe something like "let's all look at both sides and then make a call".

I hope you weren't using a bingo engine.

I don't remember seeing anything about not being able to use bingo engines in the BINGO TOS.

Wouldn't it have been more magnanimous of you, since you already had five prizes,
to leave the sixth prize for someone else? Or would that spoil the story?

Found out first time I ever played (and offered my prizes to a classy lady who had recently

fallen and suffered a broken pelvis} that the transfer of prizes was against house rules.
