Dear RHP folks,
I realize that accusations of cheating have caused a great deal of discord here in recent
days. However, there is one case that is so blatant that I do not hesitate to point it out.
There is a player named "Dustnrogers" who currently has 134 games going. He claims in
his profile to be the junior champion of his city and his province, and to have an FIDE rating
of 2200.
A little web research shows the following:
There is a junior chess player in Alberta, Canada named Dustin Matthew Rogers.
However, he is not the champion of the province. In fact, he has a rating in the 1200s.
Further, a Google search on "Dustin Matthew Rogers" shows that there were, at one point,
posts on Gameknot (where "Dustnrogers" claims to hav e played) accusing "Dustin
Rogers" of having multiple accounts a nd an inflated rating.
Among "dustnrogers" 134 opponents are some of the best players on this site. I imagine
he is playing them quite competitively.
Folks, this is as blatant as it gets. Someone using his real name, with a history of cheating,
making verifiably fake claims about himself, and showing patently impossible performance.
So this is a request to the administrators of this site to shut this guy's account down now.
Don't reset his rating to zero, shut him down. Retire his account and put a scarlet letter "C"
on his profile. His 134 fraudulent games are a serious threat to RHP's credibility.
And this is also a warning to the others on this site: DO NOT accept games with this player.
If he accepts an invite, delete the game.
Finally, this is a message to Dustin Matthew Rogers, of Alberta, Canada: you are pathetic.
That's all.
Jqvaccaro,
I know you meant well with your post. Who is Sintubin? Who is
Knightmare Nj? Sorry for using your names guys. The reality of the
internet is you never know who is who. Who is vakso? Is Schliemann
an 1800 chessmaster? Let us judge actions more than words. Figs
were obvious.
John
Ps: Who is jqvaccaro?
I think Dustnrogers is pretty obvious too, which is why I posted.
It's jGvaccaro, by the way...
Jake Vaccaro, 26 years old, graduate student in comparative literature
at UNC Chapel Hill, has been playing chess semi-seriously for about a
year now. mostly via RHP (never done any club or tournament play,
maybe will someday).
Any other questions? 🙂
I have just been challenged to 4 games by Dustnrogers and have
decided to delete them all.
My reason for this is as follows:
History does tend to repeat itself so it is quite likely that he will again
start an unsustainably large number of games, disappear half way
through and then suffer another flood of time outs. Last time this
took him down to something ridiculous like 970.
The last game I played with him was a really hard fought battle but I
eventually got the upper hand - but did I get the satisfaction of a win
against a superior player (he was 1450, I was 1250 ish) NO - I had to
time him out before his rating completely vanished.
Until we get some sort of assurance that he will take the whole thing a
bit more seriously and not start things he can't finish I too recomend
a large degree of caution when accepting his challenges.

I am currently playing my second game against Dustnrogers-- he lost
our first game by timeout, and in this one I'm up on him by a bishop
and a pawn. I honestly don't know what his deal is, in terms of
starting so many games and then letting them all time out, but from
what I can see, his play does not coincide with his profile. Is this
grounds for an accusation of cheating? I don't think so.
Exaggerating? Perhaps. Lying? Maybe. But if he is not using a
computer to make his moves, I guess it's pretty much up to him how
he manages his games, isn't it? Just my thoughts-- I've certainly
never thought he was using a program against me or anything like
that.
Tim
You make good points-- it doesn't look like he's using a program,
and I think my prior post was overstated. I apologize for that.
Still, he's verifiably lying in his profile, which I think is very wrong, if
not technically cheating. Stuff like that helps erode the atmosphere
of trust on which sites like this depend.
Further, he "promises" that he'll make it to the top 10, and he has
been accused of having multiple accounts and inflating his rating on
other sites. I see a pattern of dishonesty here, so I would handle with
care.
I (Harri/Luck) in the beginning had my first loss in my first game
against him. Now I have beaten him twice and one draw in out next
three games. His games are like mine, sometimes he plays very well
and sometimes he makes his moves too quickly. I have wished to
change my move as soon as I have hit the "move" key. I used to
play about 100 games at one times, but my playing became so poor
that I had to resign some of the games in order to have a possibility
to play reasonably well. Also I am traveling a lot during the weeks so
I don't have much free time for the games right now.

I have to agree with tenebr8, I have just finished a game with
dustnrogers and I won by the skin of my teeth. He is not cheating with
a computer since I got him in mate due to human error on his part,
and I did not play the worlds greatest move either. As far as I am
concerned if he had used a computer he would have destroyed me as
I am not that good at chess 🙂. I had a little chat with him during the
game and he just seemed like someone who was trying very hard to
win, when he didn't we had a joke about it. I would happily play him
again and if he beats me then good luck to him. My mate Macca has
played 3 games against him and he agrees that Dustnrogers is just a
good player. Remember he is an 18 year old boy, I remember being
quite implusive at that age too!!!
