@lemondrop said"Hearts" is a whole family of games!
dabbled a little in bridge and canasta but my favorite is hearts
Greek hearts, Black Maria, etc.
I agree all good games.
My favourite of that ilk for 3 players is a variant "Slobberhannes" where
points are lost for taking the first, last and any trick with a Jack in it. We
called it "Slobberchops" for some reason. I thought it German but wiki
gives it as an American game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slobberhannes
I very partial to Texas Hold 'Em. I like hearts but only on a computer. I don't think I'd care to play with an actual deck of cards.
Casino is one of the first card games I ever learned, around 4th grade. Really fun game.
Spades is my favorite team game.
My favorite one-on-one game is a game called "Spit", sometimes known as "Speed", where you try to get rid of your cards as fast as you physically can. Absolutely loved this game in middle school.
@vivify saidCasino is a great game and little known in UK.

I remember playing with my partner on a holiday flight and the man seated
next to us was delighted. His dad (recently departed) had taught him and
who knew nobody else that played. He called the game "Gazebo"!
A surprisingly skillful game for two and an enjoyable partnership game for 4 too.
@happy-chappy saidDid you know ...
We in Australia play a lot of eucher. Great game while having some beers at the pub.
Euchre and Joker share the same etymology?
From German I believe.
@hells-caretaker saidI was told to steer well clear of anyone who plays brag!
Gin one on one, Canasta or Three Card Brag - with fellow minded people.
Do you play blind-man rules?
@wolfgang59 saidI think it means to deceive. Does that fit for joker?.

The German for joker is ... joker.
The German for euchre is ... euchre!
The German for deceive is ... täuschen
Perhaps I'm wrong.
Where's Ponderable?
