I'll put in for The Wizard of Oz.
When I was a kid it both scared the pee out of me and made me laugh 'til I cried.
Edit: 1939

Don't forget 'the big Sleep' with a very young Lauren Bacall and Bogey. I just saw it for the first time on TCM. My wife refuses to watch a B&W movie, we love old western but they better be in color๐Ÿ˜‰
Yes, The Big Sleep (the 1946 version w/ Bogey and Bacall) is a terrific film, despite the vagaries in the story. BTW, Chandler's book is equally vague in places.

Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce made a series of Sherlock Holmes films in the 1940s; I loved them as a kid, and they still hold up very well.

I love older movies. I watch TCM (Turner Classic Movies) as often as I can. What are some of your favorite classic films?

There are so many, but...

- Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) Gary Cooper

Yes, I am an old man. I've had an interesting path.
When it comes to "Integrity vs. Despair": I'll hold my head high as long as my neck is strong enough. ๐Ÿ™‚

Although, I haven't quite reached cuckold-curmudgeon status yet. How about you? ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh, and regarding my OP, I'm surprised no one has yet selected:
- Citizen Kane (1941) w/ The great...Orson Welles.

Why would you want to discuss your sex life in a public chess forum? Or even dare ask anyone else about theirs?

Gaslight - a practice of psychological manipulation that came to be named after a 1938 play and subsequent movie. I have to see that movie.
