Fanny and Alexander (1982), an Ingmar Bergman film, in my opinion his very best work.

The New York Times Review: "...Fanny and Alexander is a big, dark, beautiful, generous family chronicle... It moves between the worlds of reality and imagination with the effortlessness characteristic of great fiction as it tells the story of the quite marvelous Ekdahl family... "
