it's educational. if you run across weird people, there usually is a reason why they are the way they are.


after the first half an hour, which I admit is quite disturbing, it makes you look differently at ordinary social behaviour we tend take for granted. it reeks of life, and not in the funny, smiley 'amelie' kind of way (which is fine too), but in a dirty, smelly and gritty kind of way. it's everything spielberg (and most american films) lacks. even with all the disturbing stuff it has, it still manages to be moving and even funny.
