I didn't get it from any of the clues, but the "millions of people" thing gave me curse-words, which is why I focused on Jesus. Once he was excluded, that with the last hint was my inspiration.
I have trouble with these riddles based on historical personages, simply because there are so many billions of human beings that it's hard to eliminate all-but-one in 20 questions, particularly if participants are tempted into making wild guesses that only eliminate one individual.
