@the-gravedigger saidI must be pretty thick as you put it as I don't know where you got the idea I was worried in any way about new members. It really doesn't put a dime in my pocket.
And stop pretending you are as thick as a whale omelette.
You are pretending, right ?
Is it possible you hit yourself in the head with the shovel or pick when digging graves?

@rajk999 saidThis has never been a serious chess site. The lifeblood has always been the forums.
Get rid of them. They looks bad and very unprofessional for a serious chess site. Ban the people who start these stupid threads for 30 days. Ban the ones posting and continuing them to last so long for 7 days. People of like interests such as shown in these threads can form a clan or club and talk all they want about womens butts and such topics out of public view.
Looks like we're cracking down on anything that might offend anyone now. That's a pity.
@drewnogal saidThey might wonder why you posted so much those threads and then started this one.
Just imagine a RHP newcomer arriving and looking at the top three threads in the GF today at 14.00 UK time?
1 How big is the average woman’s bum?
2 How long does the average man last in bed?
3 Women being spanked.
What would he/she think?
@very-rusty saidIt was purely an observation and I did momentarily wonder about it though I am also part of the reason why the 3 threads persisted.

The aforementioned is what she said. Perhaps she is really concerned about what new members would think?

Tbh I expected this thread to go off in another direction but then who can ever tell?
@drewnogal saidSeveral recent threads, the three you listed among them, I found more than usually tasteless and chose not to contribute to them. Items 1. and 2. I did not even bother to read. If I were a newbie to the site, I wouldn't pay for a subscription, based on the dire quality of such threads; I'd play for free and wait to see whether the level came up.

@moonbus saidlucky you weren't around before 2010 then.

@great-big-stees saidOr at least it use to be that way. If you've haven't noticed that has changed over the years.
The GF threads may seem less “cerebral” than some other forum’s threads but they are “general” and generally, much less serious.π²π€ππ

@bigdogg saidI believe it was around the time they closed the "Debate Forum" or I should say shortly after that they seemed to crack down on ANYTHING that might offend someone.

I am with you here, I think it did take away from the forums, but then I don't call the shots which is a good thing! π

@drewnogal saidDue to the chronic, manifest complaining: They could easily surmise that playing chess here has become a bore. But they'd be wrong.

@woofwoof saidI think we should just blame it on the stress of the Covid19, it will pass like everything else.
