@Torunn: When you're born until your parents decided for given name 'that could be six months' how are you identified ??
You will have a nickname, you are always called something. It's common these days to change your first name and your surname too as long as you follow the procedures.

Of course people have changed names. So it is well known that in some tribes of the native Americans the child was given some name, that changed during the inititaion into adukthood. And maybe again at some important moment in life.

Or if you want to go into the bible, some people got new names at some point (think e.g. Yakub - Israel)

If, for some reason, we are not comfortable with the names given by our parents, we will find another name even formally, my friends have done that.

It is possible in Germany, though altering the family name is a BIG pain and removing the given name is near to impossible, but adding another given name is no problem and to get your "nom de plume" noted into the passport is also comparatively easy.

And I know a few people who never bothered with the passport and it is hillarious if their "real" name is revealed.

In fact my mother goes by the given name Uta, but has Ute in her passport, since the official in Rankweil didn't recognise Uta as proper name.

In ...[text shortened]... ta, but has Ute in her passport, since the official in Rankweil didn't recognise Uta as proper name.
There are probably good reasons why it shouldn't be too easy but with all fake possibilities, who knows? With the use of computers, not to mention AI, anything can happen and the truth is hard to find, maybe not even possible.

I starting speaking at the age of 2 months. I would self identify as Bartholomew.

At the age of 7 weeks I had an enthralling game of chess with Bobby Fisher, (ended in a draw by 3 fold repetition).
