if you have the chance to fork the queen and rook with a knight going into the end game only to lose the knight to the opposing rook but have a rook advantage and a knight over bishop should you do it.... does this make sense?

Once, during a party, I tried to drink the beer of a friend who was too drunk to finish his. I was broke by that time of the night, so it looked like a very good idea. So I approached my friend, made some chat and when I realized he was distracted I took the beer. Unfortunately, he saw me doing it and shouted "hey!". And then I thought: "damn it, I am forked!"
Is this the kind of 'forked' we are talking about?

and a Knight before a Pawn.
But never fork a Bishop,
For you'l be bending over till the break of dawn.
And if you ever so horny be,
to give thy King a fork or three,
Protection you should allways to bring,
For a crazy king can cause a sting.
