Am I close?
not really, but i'm suitably impressed by your taking the effort to insert the accent marks in 'mêlée'.

You have no idea what it takes for me to get those results. I put the French in French fry!

Another suggestion would be that each member poster consider giving all other members a fair shake. How, you ask? By reading all posts and threads with an open mind... and with an objective viewpoint which recognizes the thought encoded print represents, at the very least, someone's uninformed or informed opinion and, at best, possibly useful information.

All that's required is momentary placement of the post on your left frontal lobe for the sake of consideration. Doesn't cost you a damn thing. Free is a good price. Your precious selfhood is still intact. No reason in the whole wide world to become agitated, ballistic emotional or threatened. No compunction to buy anything. Jury sitting in your forehead is still out.

Strictly your business if your thought process becomes stimulated and you become inclined to change your previous point of view, on the spur of the moment or at a later time. Only then do you buy in by way of info transfer to your right lobe for assimilation, circulation, application. Your biz also to reject strenuously, engage in lively conversation or high spirited locked horns debate. Point is that you first gave other member/posters an objective listen and in doing so, a fair shake.

Perhaps rather than changing the world, you might consider changing.

If so, unintentionally. Strictly a conversational gambit, intended to take a positive tack.

Another member's recent 'The General Forum Sucks' thread seemed quite negative.

I made my request.

Rather than change the world, change yourself.

You seem to have a problem with 'behavior' at RHP. You seem concerned how people react to your posts, so you want them to change.

Here's a suggestion. Listen and learn rather than trying to change how others react to you.

Reduce VR and you to a maximum of 5 posts per day and one thread per week.
I would be good with that if you and everyone else limit yourselves to the same! 😏

Who should one take direction from while listening and learning?

Any suggestions?

You perhaps?

"I made my request. Rather than change the world, change yourself."

Yes, you singled me out as a subscriber who should change himself. My reply was non-confrontational... simply asked,
'in what specific ways'. Again you chose to answer with the generalized, "Rather than change the world, change yourself."

No 'problem' whatever. 'Behavior at RHP' is nothing compared to ultra competitive Fortune 100 Corporate America. Reactions
are a measure of others. Hardly my biz to presume to 'change' anybody though you, yourself, seem intent on changing me.

Again, yes. We totally agree. Mature members 'listen and learn' and live and let live. Please bear in mind it's a two-way street.

Another suggestion would be for all posters to be quick to give benefit of doubt and to forgive. Three reasons: It's the noble

thing to do; creates less heat than light; tends to open up our privileged global conversations, rather than close them down.

[/b]Reading your OP, you ask users to be more thoughtful. They are very thoughtful for the most part in my estimation.

If you don't think they are, perhaps there is something on YOUR end that needs adjusting. Perhaps you're not thinking of yourself but others on this subject, so I apologize if you are not saying users are not 'thoughtful' towards you.

If you fear users here are not thoughtful towards someone other than you, perhaps you should make that more clear.

Many new users come in and do just fine. There is not a gang of users who run users off RHP and batter users for no reasons.

When users share preposterous ideas or views they will get negative feedback on those things. Let's not change everyone's view, asking them to tolerate silly or disruptive ideas. That is where most conflict in the forums come from.

Some users think there is a Big Friend Group who only contradicts views and ideas for the sake of doing so. This isn't true in any way. When users are confronted on their views that's because the other users do not agree in anyway.

Listen, you know me. Yes, I'm one of the most hated users of RHP. I'm not asking others to change their view of me, they can think what they want... just bring a bit of meat to the table come din-din if you've got beef with me and my views.
