I'd never hold a friend back from a fight, but I would have his/her back. 🙂

After decades of fighting I know no one really ever wins a fight.. You get a reputation and people want to fight you because of that. Seriously, what does a fight prove? Like your brother I learned how to box at around 14. At first it was so I could defend myself, then I found all one fight would do is lead to another one. I don't figure at the end of the day no one really wins a fight. Sure you might have won, but at what cost? There is always going to be a few who are better, I could tell from the guys eyes if he was afraid or not. It doesn't take very long to figure people out.

had my moments, not a fighter but I wont ever back down, been to see mick taylor at boro town hall with old blue leggs 2 guys decided to try and mug me, they wanted my wallet, I told them as calmly as I could that I would take one of them with me, they thought for a while then cleared off.

That is quite believable to me, when they saw you were going to stand up to them they turtled. I've seen that so many times. Guys like the gooster are all mouth. Confront him and he would wet himself~! 🙂

Letting them invade your space is the last thing you want, or they will take over.

Yup for sure, my recently deceased brother-in-law did that job for over 40 years. Not many would mess with him He ended up as a Forman then supervisor after retirement age.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work often with women.

No one believes 'this little wildcat' can actually kick their ass.

I don't hear, "Alright then, I'll be off" as much as, "You? And what army, girlie?"

At least they're not AS expecting you to be a threat. This presents openings men probably wouldn't get. The problem is, once you start dishing it out and they see their mate go down, they stop holding back. Gotten my share of bruises this way. I've learned to run before it gets real bad.

We can never win every fight we get into, at my age it would have to end fast, not afraid to admit that. I had my day! I never underestimate anyone but the ones with a lot of mouth you usually don't have to be concerned about, blowhards I call them. It is quiet ones who can be much more dangerous in my opinion and experience in many bar room brawls and street fights.

@Suzianne

If you met a guy who had no problem throwing punches with you would you press charges after he whooped you?

Or were you referring to you fighting another woman?
