if you cut your hands off at the wrist then i believe the nails stop growing.
it makes it harder to perform silver service, however, so if you're a waiter in a smart restaurant, i don't recommend this course of action.
(i tried to post this a moment ago but it got barred. it's because i called it a sw@nky restaurant. because that was what was inappropriate about the post.)
