When you walk down any street you run into beggers/panhandlers who are asking for any help you can give.

Now some are not homeless but how can you tell who is and who isn't?

I give atleast 2 dollars to each one regardless.

Do you? Why or why not?

Nope...from what I've been told a lot of them are just asking for money so they can keep their addictions going and just use it to buy drugs

It sounds bad but that is what I always hear

Some of the fake ones are really funny - many of them have nicer shoes on than I do or I see that they have the new cell phones

If I gave 2 Dollars to every homeless person I met, then I'd be homeless within one day.

In a word, NO! Might even make it two, HELL NO! Way too many druggies, alcoholics, psychos, weirdos panhandling in NYC. I'm a member of the working poor, I can barely afford my own habits and vices to be paying for somebody else's.

I don't encounter very many panhandlers. The last one followed me into the post office where it is illegal to panhandle. But I opened my wallet anyway and gave him $5 in a flash. He was really shocked as he didn't even have to make up some sob story about how his car broke down a block away and how he needed to buy some gas. lol. I could care less what they do with the money. I'm not assuming anything about how they will use it. I give to charities and have no idea what they do with the money either. But I don't feel like I have to give handouts to every beggar I see. It depends on my mood.

I tried giving them canaries to throw but they flew away, the German Shepherds were to hard to throw and the public got cut by broken fishbowls when I gave the homeless Goldfish to pitch.

I dont. I believe you must have messed up pretty hard / its your own choice if you are homeless in Holland.
Im not giving my money just because someone else is lazy, im lazy myself...in fact, from now on I will reply any question for money by beggers with: "No, you got some for me tho?".

I once gave some guy some money when I was in a good mood, he was polite too. When I walked in the supermarket a bit later he just came out with his hands full of the cheapest beer lol.

I really, seriously, dislike parents who take thier kids with them to begg.
