i had a proud professing racist teacher at primary school, who nobody even bothered to get rid of. i'm sure my mother tried as she was a teacher at the school also.
we had to sing this song before the two assembies of the week started. it was his most enjoyable time of the week.
But the comment about the song praising a white person was a bit strange.

his pleasure came from seeing kids who weren't white signing the song. this is because in his head we were bowing down to a white person who was better than any of us ever would. when i won the running race and got to shake her son's hand, all the BS in his head went out the backdoor. you see racist people take people in positions of power like that to USE the and does bring the worst here.
