This thread should mitigate any regrets Mathurine had about leaving.
She has always enjoyed lively give and take, brisk banter, clever rejoinder and slashing riposte. She's never exhibited the least timidity. She has a solid track record of launching delightfully nuanced and provocative threads, without the least concern as to who caught on and who didn't. She's always graciously given a wide berth to those (uncomplicated folks, innocent of Shakespeare and Aristophanes) who have sought their belly laughs from simplistic cartoons and stickfigures, pratfalls and humorless humor.
Please let me be among the first to suggest that this otherwise sad 'so long for now' thread (of Monday, August 22, 2011) stands as an understated and serendipitous tribute to this lady. May it also be known that this tasteful postcard as well my friendship with the lady herself shall long remain in a place in the library of my soul reserved for the most delicate, sturdy and fragrant of memories.
