This is not typed using proper grammar so please forgive me. When using pronouns, refering to God or Jesus or another higher spiritual being, is it always appropriate to capitolize these pronouns even if they fall in the middle or end of the sentence. I ask this because I wrote a paper on my personal growth and made several reference to God as He throughout the paper always capitolizing He. Is this proper or just a matter of preference. I want to be reverent but still use proper grammar, does anyone know the actual rule. Thanks. Again sorry for the spelling and grammar its 2:41 am here.

That's more a religious question than a grammatical one. Some people capitalize the whole word, e.g.

"I worship the one true GOD because HE made koalas"

Might want to ask this in Spirituality. I'm an atheist so I never capitalize those pronouns; only the proper nouns (God, Jesus, etc).

I posted it just now in the other forum, and I have no desire to offend anyone, I was just curious what the actual rule is.

Bible.com does NOT capitalize those pronouns.

1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I think capitalising the first letter is a good compromise between the all lower case and the all caps versions.
Good point by the Goat Boy about The Bible not using caps.

It's a name - capitalise it in the same way as Bruce or Alan.

edit:bible.com is wrong.

edit2: unless it's an URL.

edit3: every real bible[ie made of paper] I've seen has used He.

That's nonsense. In that case, you'd also have to talk about "He's will" etc.

I wouldn't talk about He's will or he's will.

Dr. Strangelove might be right. I agree with him.

I would use god the same way I would use mum and dad i.e. only use a capital when I am actually using it as the name, as in, 'Mum, what's for dinner?

And I would never use He, that doesn't really make sense, as it is not a name.

He is Will?
I always thought he was YHVH.

There's supposedly only one He, whereas any male is a he.
