What would you say are the best series or graphic novels around at the moment, or in the past?
My vote would be the "That Yellow Bastard" storyline/miniseries from Sin City (Frank Miller).
Stop living in denial, you mean 'Comic Book' 😉

I wouldn't call Sin City a comic book, it is a serial, told in a comic-book like style, yes, but not a comic book. Road to Perdition was a graphic novel as well, as it was a comic style book in a paperback book.

I liked getting Jeff smiths "Bone" in TPB... I'm not sure if its the same.
Cerebus by Dave Sim also tickled my fancy.

Would Sandman novels be the one with the smilie face for the cover? I think I have seen them.

Originally posted by D43M0Npretty heavy material. The cool things is that sometimes a comic or "graphic novel" will come out and is not about super-heros. yeah it has spandex in it but the material is very adult, full of philisophical points and existensial questions. that not to say the Watchmen have that, I've never read it...but I want to. I believe that if some of histories gratist artist and writers were alive today theyd be making comics....or working in Hollywood😀

Originally posted by D43M0NThe Sandman series is fantastic: a labyrinth of interwoven stories. Dark fantasy that occasionally crosses over into pure horror but never omits whimsy. The Sandman of the title is Morpheus, the Dream King.

My favourite of the moment though is Grant Morrison's "Filth": beautiful graphics, and a storyline that is completely deranged.
Originally posted by D43M0NI agree. I've grown up with comic books around me. I learned to read on Archie and Carebear comics(laugh now) As I've gotten older It's nice to see comics that are more then the villian of the month. So wether its about the holocaust(MAUS) or a comment on humanity and society, its good to see darker and heavier material.
