As they entered the exchange they glanced up at the tote board and noticed that the price for a barrel of crude had plummeted since Fridays closing from 450 Euros (the new world currency) to a paltry 275.They were perplexed. Just then Ivana Ivanovitch, the head of the exchange, introduced herself and welcomed them to "her" domain. They queried her as to what might have happened to the price of oil to which she said," There were some issues between China and Japan about some oil reserves and China threatened to use their "Death Satelite". "Perfect" said Sheila " I'll make the call and have them buy up all the shares they can. This is the opportunity we were waiting for. See Ben I told you that that fantastic "romp" we had last night in the hotel was a harbinger of good things to "come" but I never expected it to be so big". Ben smiled and gave a quick wink to Ivana, one which Ivana knew could complicate what was about to happen.
88. It had been a lovely, relaxed weekend, and Sheila and Ben felt rejeuvenated. It was true that Sheila was grieving over the loss of Ken and Doyle, but those were necessary sacrifices to get where she was today, ready to make a play for the domination of oil.
90. Everything was going according to plan now. The rumors of new discoveries in Outer Mongolia, Siberia, Northern Canada that dwarfed all known reserves was only one prong of the disinformation attack. Second, came the rumors circulating about drilling that was about to begin in Anwar. Third, and possibly most important, was the super secret rumor about the new super-powerful super-capacity super-quick-recharge ion battery technology that will be immediately available for plug-in hybrids. Last, the even more secret new technology to neutralize the radioactive waste problem by entombing it safely in the form of synthetic granite allowing it to be stored economically and safely on a certain ranch in Texas. The price of oil futures will drop to historic lows, allowing for the desired irrational exuberance right before the panic. Soon no one will have a clue as to what is real and what is pure speculation, and it will be dangerous for anyone to be "in the market" unless they have certain key pieces of information.
91. Ivana and Sheila were "eyeing each other up" with very subtle nuanced glances, not unlike the way men "size each other up" in the common western vernacular, except with less posturing, and more . . .more . .. . . intuitive .and . . . well . . competitive depth and meaning. Sheila understood immediately on Ivana's approach that Ben was "the prize." Ivana was way out of her leaugue, however, with no way of knowing that leavine Ben "en prise" was also part of the attacking scheme. This game only had three more moves, thought Sheila.
92. Sheila suggested to Ivana that it might be nice if she joined Ben and her for a cup of tea and a game or two of five minute chess in their room a little later. Ivana smiled, knowingly, and accepted the offer. "Let's say, 7 p.m.?" "I'll look forward to it," purred Ivana. Ben's heart was pounding in his chest, his pupils wide to the max. MEN! thought Sheila, with an invisible sigh.

When I suggested "The Three Way" there seemed to be a.....glance between the two of you." Ben nervously laughed it off saying, "Ya woman's intuition...... what next, another plunge in oil prices right after we take over the market?........
94. Ben couldn't believe his good fortune and wondered if he might get to play a simultaneous match with them both. Sheila didn't know that Ivana and Ben had played chess before, and that Ivana loved the French Defense as much as Ben and she did.

Sheila called down to the kitchen and ordered a bottle of their best champagne (three flutes), some oysters on the half shell, Brie and crackers along with some peanut butter, just in case "it" got to where she hoped it would. She could see, in her minds eye, Ivana slathered in peanutbutter and Ben and her....well enough said.

101. Just a few minutes later, Ben emerged refreshed and "charged" - ready for some very exciting three-way chess, finding two beautiful "princesses" engaged in an intense 5 minute struggle with 3 second increment time settings. They were both playing a queenside opening - of course. Ivana's game was strikingly tactical, throwing caution to the wind, while Sheila was playing a cautious strategic game, allowing herself to be trapped with hostile forces all around her, with her opponent believing that mate would be delivered in just two or three more moves, all the while, amazing tactical resources were about to be found and released, mainly the sacrifice of one key knight in an all but lost position, that opens the door for the white Bishop's pawn to promote to Queen . . . and deliver mate. Would Ivana see the trap in time, or would she plunge ahead recklessly, Ben wondered. He poured a dram of Johnny Walker Green and sat to watch, sitting neutrally between them, enjoying the view immensely.
102. Sheila delivered the mate decisively when Ivana snatched the "errant knight," having failed to appreciate a discovered check that would allow for a Bishop's sacrifice and the ultimate promotion of the princess pawn to Queen and a sudden mate. Ivana was dazzled by Sheila's win, but, unfortunately, for Ivana, she only considered the win to be a lucky fluke, born from time pressure in a speed game. If only she had a few more seconds to look carefully - she would have surely seen that the available knight was only proffered as a deadly trap.
103. Ivana turned her attention to the very handsome Ben and finished her sip of courvoisier. Their eyes locked - for just a nanosecond, imperceptibly, surely, except for the most alert and wary, such as was Sheila, at that moment, not at all dulled or lulled by the pleasant ambience, or the fine brandy.
