Steve has been a very nice friend to me. We became friends at this site and have had a few telephone conversations and even got to meet in Toronto for a drink and a game of chess.

I talked with Steve's wife late this afternoon and Steve is out of the O.R.and in recovery after a 5 hour operation.I will be visiting him in the next couple days and I will convey your prayers and kind words and I know it will cheer him up immensely.I'm aware that Steve has many friends here and if any of you wish to convey a private message to him ,please send it along to me and I will be sure he gets it when I see him.

Isn't this www wonderful. We on this site obviously have something in common and can form friendships, however brief, worldwide. I've never played against GBS but my thoughts and prayers are with him AND his family.
