How curious. Over here that's how we refer to Grid Iron players.
That would figure , seeing as everything's up-side-down there .

No doubt. I love how (European) Football has no commercials. But that would never happen here for any sport...

Maybe you should start a new sport which has no TV control, lead the backlash against modeern media through underground sport. Something like Rollerball?
Indie (American) football would be excellent. I'd love to see sensitive skinny guys with emo glasses and tight sweaters tackling each other.

Any sport that calls itself "football" , but has fans that are feared far more than the players is a wussy sport not worthy of the name . That's why we call it soccer , and why it's only acceptable for 8 year old girls to play it . My son called soccer players "field fairys" when he was 9 . Even kids understand that here .

As for my pick - I'm ...[text shortened]... am , Franco , the only team from that bygone era tough enough and good enough to compete today .
Hee hee... well, Spike Milligan was asked when he was pretty old whether he liked soccer, and he replied that no, he didn't, as it was a poof's game... "one tap on the ankle, and thet're rolling around on the floor like they've been maimed"!

That's really a symptom of modern football, but Spike rather knocked it on the head. Stupid professional era, ruined the game. Anyway, Spike was more of a rugger man, so let's hope that Union doesn't follow that path!

But, explain this to me, now that you Yanks have taken over the thread.

Question no.1.

Why, if the game only has 1 hour of playing time, does it take 3 and a half hours to play a match?
