The problem is obviously that songs which aren't on the best rock list ever, are probably not good enough to be on it.

Music is entirely subjective. Everything that is good is bad and vice versa. It depends on what you like.

I think it's interesting to hear about songs and genres that I'd never listen to. I may not care for them but there's no 'right' and 'wrong' in music.

No no no no no no no. No. Even Flow is not that great of a song. By far the worst of the 'popular' songs off of 'Ten'.

'Black' and 'Jeremy' are both better, IMO.

My list (no order)

Meat Puppets - Plateau
Belle & Sebastian - Wrapped Up in Books
Belle & Sebastian - You Don't Send Me
Pearl Jam - Black
The Cure - Love Song
Weezer - Say it Ain't So
Spoon - Finer Feelings
Spoon - Black Like Me
Wilco - Heavy Metal Drummer
Wilco - Jesus Etc.
Nirvana - About a Girl
Nirvana - You Know You're Right
Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
Neil Young - Heart of Gold
Bright Eyes - Four Winds
Bright Eyes - When the Breakman Turns My Way
Queens of the Stone Age - Know One Knows
Cloud Cult - Living On the Outside of Your Skin
Matt Costa - These Arms

"Oh, I sincerely miss those heavy metal bands..."

pfft.

Nirvana and Hole were destined to become the Fred and Ginger of our time if it wasn't for all the heroin.

I understand it's trendy nowadays to attack things in order to bring them down to your level, but come on, Nirvana is the new Joy Divsion. They shoved music into a different direction and heavily influenced the next decade of rock.

You don't have to like the music to respect the band.

only because you've heard the songs a million times do they become played out and boring.

The question should be if an alien came to earth and wanted to hear the best 20 Rock songs ever produced, what would you play for him?

Would you leave out Stairway to Heaven because you're sick of it?

I find it funny that people think Nirvana were 'pro apathy/extremely lazy', and part of the general view of Grunge bands, when most of the lyrics to their songs were written within a day of the songs being recorded. It's hard to have a message when you're just throwing rhyming words together. 😛

Not what I'm saying. At all. I was saying a lot of people hate them because they think they're part of the Grunge stereotype, but they aren't.

I love them, personally, but I'm fine if people don't. Their choice.
