I don't believe they were allowing anyone from outside Canada out of the airport. I think you also had to remain in a certain area. Like you couldn't leave then come back and go through security check again. Where was your connection in Canada? Different provinces had different regulations.

It was a bit of a mess at first, arrived in London to be told I couldn’t fly through Montreal as they didn’t allow overnight stays in the airport so changed it to Toronto. Not the first time I’ve stayed over in an airport with an early flight the next morning but Toronto wasn’t the most comfortable I have to say. Was lucky in the end to get one of the soft rows of chairs without arm rests as overwise I would have slept on the floor, really cold though, guess they don’t use the heating during the night. Was nice to see the snow in the morning though.

I think non-Canadians were allowed to enter if they already had a visa to work or study but I’m not 100% sure, an English girl was trying to fly for that reason but don’t know if they let her or not, did see someone having to change their flight as family members weren’t allowed to enter anymore. If I hadn’t a flight booked to Colombia and a dentist appointment there they wouldn’t have let me fly.

The flight to Cancún from Toronto was completely full though, a lot of Canadians going on holidays.

They were allowing people who lived in Canada to come home, but they had to quarantine for 14 days. I believe at the time they were doing the testing also. So you would need to be tested before and after. Big fines if you broke the quarantine.

I am doubtful things will ever be the same again. It has changed the way we live all over the world. I see more video conferencing in the future. If people can work at home they will do so.

I think the idea is that we are stopping the hospitals from being overwhelmed by the seriously ill and making sure there can still be COVID free areas within them so that people with other illnesses have a better outcome. Don't think the idea is that we are doing this because death rates are through the ceiling, I think it's to stop admission rates going through the ce ...[text shortened]... ing told no room at the inn and perhaps less likely to see treatment for serious illness as a given?
I think the NHS is on its knees every winter and this year they can’t cope with the amount of staff off, not because of a huge increase in admissions. Funny it was all fine during the summer, get out to help out they said, flu season starts and oops, covid is back and deadlier than ever. I’m not buying it.

Death rates were up sharply in March, of that I have no doubt but since then they’ve levelled off to a certain degree with previous years. We should be seeing the highest death rate since WW2, but we’re not, why?

For me Colombia has been more compliant with what their government tells them than Mexico, there it was about 50% masks on streets but still going out and about, nightclubs still open whereas here a good 95% walk around wearing a mask. On New Year’s Eve and every night in general around the old town here it’s a bit less but I’ve spoken to a few people and the media all made them scared at the start but now when they see people interacting and going out and not seeing a massive increase in deaths they’re starting to realise it’s maybe at as bad as the media would have you believe.

I think next year, 2022 when the vast majority of the world has had a vaccine the world will be back to the way it was. People are fed up with lockdowns and working from home but maybe you’re right and there will be a change, but I don’t think a massive one.

Only time will tell us what the future will hold. I don't think things will ever be like they were personally!

@Trev33

I’ve noticed you go to third world countries a lot 🤔
Does the lower age of consent in those countries influence your travel decisions?
I’ve figured you out!
You’re naughty! 😡

He’s far too young and it’s a lifestyle he’s chosen since his late 20’s.

I think you’re confusing him with the pathetic, grey haired, paunched 70 somethings you see queuing for the Thailand flights every year; the ones who can’t even get a date on POF?

I’ve seen it, 60+ with a maybe 18 yo girl, it’s disgusting but it is what it is. Old guys want the attention and the younger girl wants their money.

Legal is Legal.
The law is the law.

In my country it's 16 and people flip out but law is law.
I prefer old women who know what they are doing. 😉
I was just having fun. I'm jealous you travel so much when I am stuck here feeding squirrels 😐
The countries you go to are the same ones I would go to if I had the cash.
I'm just jealous 😕

The squirrels need to eat as well 😉

Law and what you hear or think can be very different though, for example I’ve spent about 2 years of my life in Peru and there the legal age is 13 and prostitution is also legal. So without checking you could automatically think there could be a Legal 13 year old prostitute but no, while a 13 year old can have sex it’s still illegal to do it with anyone over 18 and prostitution under 18 is also illegal. Now, what’s legal and what happens are of course two different things.

The most expensive thing is the flight, once you’re here it’s really cheap. Especially India, spent almost 6 months there just travelling and only spent £2500 by the end. Did a 9 night trek in the Himalayas with 2 porters, a couple of yaks, a cook and a guide and visited a few national parks and still didn’t spend much.
