I have to have one tomorrow π is it true that it can paralyse you if you move? and is it done with local anaesthetic?
A spinal tap basically removes a large amount of fluid from your spinal column which results in your brain being "loose" in your skull. Sitting upright causes massive headaches.

I have had an injection in my spine once. Is that the same? It was to create the actual local anaesthetic, though. No fun, that's for sure, but you don't want to read that, do you?

When a lumber puncture [as we call it in the trade] is performed, you would normally have lidocaine to numb the area first.

Originally posted by AikoI've had 13 epidurals done in the past 6 years. Trouble is it makes it so hard to damn well p*ss afterwards as they anaesthetise the area. Took me nearly 12 hours after the last one.... having a bloody tube stuck in me d*ck next time. Seriously, it's bloody agony.

You stand, you sit, you whistle, you run the tap - which only makes you want to go even more and then .... at last!!! A dribble. About a teaspoonful - though never actually measured it you understand π
Then the nurse says "Have another drink dear...." Christ my bladder felt it was the size of a hot air balloon!!!
Oh don't I look forward to my operation this month...:'(
