Hi,

I'd like to point your attentions towards this game:

http://www.redhotpawn.com/core/playchess.php?gameid=8348734&cbqsid=18579

As you can see, black has resigned without a single move being made. I was playing black, my good friend (from real life) was playing white. The reason I did this, is that the week before, I called a timeout on a game I thought he'd forgotten about, I did this because I'm a non-scrip scum and had reached my max game limit.

I didn't think he even wanted to complete the game, but when I saw him at the pub the other week, he was most annoyed at the timeout, claiming that he was without internet and wouldn't do the same to me.

So I went ahead and gifted him a free win just to level things up.

Perhaps it was hasty and I should have checked the rules, I'm not a great player but I'm certainly no cheat, I guess half the reason I've brought this game up on this board is because I'm worried if someone else sees it first, it will look bad.

Am I facing any kind of suspension for this? I hope not, I'm waiting to get back to work after redundancy and finally pay for a scrip.

Any thoughts welcome.

Also, any challenges welcome 🙂

Daniel from Cornwall, England.

If they were your friend IRL, they should have contacted you in some way if they didn't want to be timed out.

Don't feel guilty, tell them to relax. Seems pretty silly of them to be upset in any way if they were not able to move in time.

As for resigning the game, no score changes in a game less than 3 moves each. If they are still mad at you, perhaps they're not the kind of person you should be friends with. You shouldn't manipulate ratings, but I doubt anything will come of this. In the future, if you play an IRL friend try and contact them or wait to skull... I've got total strangers I wait for very often, but others click ASAP. These are all within the rules of the game.

Just my thoughts.

You should have gave him a flying elbow drop.
1. For talking about real world stuff during valuable drinking time
2. For giving a crap
3. For not paying his internet bill

No harm was done. A member, not to be mentioned by name, with code word clearance (Q) neutralized the threat. Certain measures had to be taken but the small changes will not be noticeable. Don't inquire further.

The severity of the punishment will depend upon whether or not you blew him behind the pub dumpsters.
