WE'RE BOTH OF A MIND TO GIVE CANADA A TRY, WE'VE HEARD IT'S A GREAT PLACE.
THANKS TO YOU ALL
MEET YOU ON THE CHESSBOARD ONE OF THESE DAYS
Top tip : Stay in the UK and get rich.
There is huge shortage of plumbers in the UK ( or so I have been lead to believe) and I am beginning to wish it is skill I possessed...I don't see many poor plumbers about.
Of course, I say this for selfish reasons, if there were more plumbers, maybe I could get my boiler serviced and my leaky radiators fixed for a reasonable price.

EVERYBODY SAYS THAT THERE,S A SHORTAGE OF PLUMBERS IN BRITAIN, AND YOUR MAYBE ALL RIGHT, AND IT HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT GOING ON A COURSE. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE INTERESTED IS DO IT. TRY AND FIND ONE LOCALLY DOING A CERTIFICATE IN PLUMBING AND ENROL. I LOVE IT AND IT'S VERY INTERESTING.
BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, I JUST FEEL THAT BRITAIN IS OVERPRICED, I MEAN LOOK AT THE HOUSE PRICES ! NOT MUCH FUN FOR NEW STARTERS. THE COST OF FUEL, COUNCIL TAX .... SAY NO MORE. I'M SORRY IF THAT SEEMS ON THE DISMAL SIDE, BUT WHEN 83 YEAR OLD LADIES ARE THREATENED WITH IMPRISONMENT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T/WONT PAY THIER COUNCIL TAX - WELL WHAT CAN YOU SAY ?
SO MAYBE FOR ME CANADA MAY BE AN OPTION.

But if you are dead set on going somewhere, Canada is probably one of the better places. I lived in Montreal for 1.5 years and it was really nice. A lot different to english-speaking Canada by all accounts, though.
And don't go if you don't like extremes of weather. Not only is it very cold for about 5 months, it's very hot for about 3 months too (i.e. 35C+ and very humid).
Maybe try a holiday or short term work there first.
canada is a great place even though many people still think it is part of the US or may be even great britain - but we're not because we don't speak with an accent.
there is snow in canada except on vancouver island where i live except a couple of times a year and then it is warm. there is no warm snow in montreal.
politically, canada has no difficulties once we can figure out whether the issue is a municipal, provincial or federal matter.
canada is a big place so it is easy to get lost if you don't have a map.
the large place is policed by large bottomed (lowers their center of mass) police (with some political connections) called RCMPs (pronounced arsey m ps).
there is lots of water around canada and quite a bit in it as well, which is why plumbers are always needed.
i'm glad that i have been able to provide the first actually informative post to your question unlike the rest of the people here who seem to delight leaking out nothing but plumber jokes. however, just to show that canadians have a sense of humus i am carrying our torch with this creation:
The plumber shows up for an emergency call, but the people aren't sure he is qualified so they ask to see his certificate. He says, "I don't have certificate, only diploma."
in friendship,
