The collection agencies are all over him and he says his weekly check only covers the interest ...[text shortened]... is the one who doesn't realize he has a problem. What's your take on this bizzare situation??
Addicts will lie and manipulate. How's she getting money now to cover her habit which is an expensive one? And why's he paying her bills?

Honestly, I don't know. I would guess she has to have some sort of ultimatum over her head - the threat of losing a child to a foster home, or a prison sentence, or something to force her into rehab. He's obviously got strong feelings for her, so it would be hard to dump her especially as that would possibly accelerate the downward spiral. But she's getting him deeper in the doggie-do and something's got to snap somewhere unless things change. Also, are her feelings for him genuine or those of dependency? After all, he's now paying for her habit.

I've seen, used as recreational drugs, weed, alcohol, and nicotine of course; I've also seen coke, crystal meth, tranquilizers and painkillers, and a close friend was eating shroom brownies not too long ago. I've known people who did X. I don't know anyone who's been anywhere near heroin.

Of the drugs I've seen, I myself have used them all except the tranquillizers, painkillers, X and shrooms. Crystal Meth didn't seem like that big a deal; my friend and I snorted it and didn't inject or smoke it which supposedly lessens to effects though. We both stopped using it; me easily, while he had to avoid the neighborhood where he had access to it. It is very powerful. It would keep my friend up for most of a week for example.

Maybe we've demonised drugs so much that it's become attractive - the forbidden fruit. After all, MJ is much less addictive (I believe, and I've had my share) than nicotine or alcohol and neither of these are outlawed. Got a suspended prison sentence in '79 for possession, carried on occasionally anyway, had a couple of bad trips and not touched the stuff in 15 years. Not for any particular reason, but it was never a big deal in my life anyway. Now, nicotine - far worse. Still battling to quit the legal addiction.

With the way things are going and the nanny states working the way they are, we may well see tobacco banned in certain countries (like the US, the UK) in our lifetime. I doubt it though, because of the lobby groups, but perhaps the way to go is the way the Dutch have gone about it through liberalising but controlling access to drugs. I just don't know. But what I do know is it's killing people and the MFs producing and selling the stuff should be shot on sight.

I mailed the same question to a friend of mine in the UK. She's a doctor and a serious over-achiever (admitted lawyer, also a psychiatrist etc) and her comments about heroin are:

"It is a huge problem in the UK - the most prevalent of the injectable illicit drugs. From my position as a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in high risk and forensic liaison / prison psychiatry, many, many of the prison inmates are heroin addicts, and my Intensive Care Unit is usually full of drug-induced psychosis. Recreationals like ecstasy are popular, cannabis in its many incarnations remains the most popular, crack for those with a bit more money (see Kate Moss in this week's headlines) and amphetamines still in wide use. But the big daddy and the most troublesome in the UK today remains heroin. NHS spends millions on heroin rehab programs and inpatient stays, and drugs like Methadone and Sobutrex to substitute.
I have seen a number of young people die, bomb their brains and descend into a cycle of psychiatric neverland from whence there is no return."

Tell your friends. Please.

The dealers dont care as they are Zombies 🙁

I have lost friends and seen a family member (kid) almost die because of Heroin.

Speaking to you from the 5th largest city in the US, I'd have to say that unfortunately heroin is making a comeback, altho the fastest growing usage is crystal meth. Ecstacy is also big here. Strangely enough, I'm not hearing about coke the way I used to... even crack seems to be stigmatized as a drug for the low-lifes...

Here is part of the 'Narcotics' entry from the Enyclopaedia Britannia 1961 yearbook.

'The United Kingdom report on dangerous drugs for the year 1959, which was forwarded to the United Nations in the summer of 1960, showed that 229 persons were convicted of dangerous drugs offences. Of the the number convicted of offences involving cannabis (Indian hemp) was 185. During 1960 there were 258 convictions for dangerous drugs offences of all kinds.'

'The number of known addicts in 1960 was 454. ... Morphine was used by 204 addicts and diacetylmorphine (heroin) by 68. Of the synthetic drugs only pethidine (116) and methadone (60) were used to a significant extent by addicts'

This was all before the start of the 'War on Drugs', which has undoubtedly been won by the drug barons.

A friend told me about his daughter getting hooked on crystal meth...

You know how they tell us not to let anyone know your bank account number? I always thought that if someone knew mine they couldn't do anything with it... I mean, think about this. If you had 50 checking account numbers what the heck could you do with them!? You certainly couldn't go to any bank and withdraw money just because you knew the checking account number, right!?

Well, my friend explained it to me... his daughter and her boyfriend, who were hooked on crystal meth, got ahold of a bunch of checking account numbers.

- They went to the banks where the checking account numbers were active.

- They opened up their own personal checking accounts at those banks.

- When they received their personal checks they simply...

- Scanned the checks with a computer scanner.

- Loaded the image into a graphics program.

- Changed the account number on their checks to one of the other ones they knew.

- Printed out the new checks with the new account numbers...

Guess what?

* When they bought anything with a check they had all the I.D. necessary to process the check!

* The person receiving the check called the bank, and as is customary, gave the account number.

* Nobody has information about the person's idenity at the other end... all they have is a number to plug in.

* The account number says there's enough money in the account for the transaction. So the purchase goes through.

When the charges are tallied up, the money comes out of the account that was listed on the check.

Most people who have been scammed don't even know why the money was taken out of their checking account. It's really, realy bad when husband and wife don't talk about the balance of their checking account. Each person just figures their spouse wrote the checks.

Even for the few people who take the time to CALL and ask why their checkbook balance is not the same as the one they have; by the time they catch it, and then the bank investigates... 2 months have gone by! Yes, the criminals have moved on.

Yeah, it's not the "perfect crime" because the criminals actually identified themselfs to get the original checking account. But this is what druggies are doing. They do it and move to another area. Some of them even have access to fake I.D's which makes it even harder to catch them.

Thank you. He died a few hours ago. I really feel for the parents - no parents should ever have to bury their children. My wife's with her sister now.
At least in death he may give life to others - he's an organ donor.

hmmm. I just read up on chrystal meth in wikipedia... apparently, the diluted form is speed, which is more or less what is given to kids with ADHD... 😕
And withdrawal symptoms include seizures and strokes... jesus christ!
I definately don't think I'll ever try that... I'll rather cope with my occasional depressive phases on my own that become hooked on drugs 😕

I had speed once. Good stuff and great sex. The only time I've ever had a hard drug, thank goodness, apart from morphine in hospital following a major op.

It appears that Greg may well have never taken heroin before. He was celebrating a promotion and would have been pretty tanked up on alcohol. The hospital could only find a single needle mark on his body which went straight into his artery. Even just one hit can kill.

Heroin users should be arrested and put in solitary. Brighton is full of Smackheads. They are responsible for a lot of crime. Whilst I can sympathise with the relatives, everyone knows heroin/smack kills and ruins lives. We should be doing more to drive this poison from our streets.
The hospital could only find a single needle mark on his body which went straight into his artery.
How did they know it went into his artery? If you ask a drug user [injector] you will find they'll tell you it is too painful to inject stuff into the artery and thus almost impossible. And even if they did manage it wouldn't be pleasant for them at all.
I have had several friends die of overdoses but it was methodone every time that killed them.
Heroin is a big problem here in the UK now simply because it is so cheap.
It is highly addictive....IMO the worst way is when smoked....and yes I'm talking from experience.
