How did they know it went into his artery? If you ask a drug user [injector] you will find they'll tell you it is too painful to inject stuff into the artery and thus almost impossible. And even if they did manage it wouldn't be pleas ...[text shortened]... is highly addictive....IMO the worst way is when smoked....and yes I'm talking from experience.
The worst way what when smoked? The most addictive or the most unpleasant?

The Taliban very effectively cracked down on poppy production in Afghanistan. After the US occupation, Afghanistan is back producing 80-90% of the world's opium poppies. I guess the war against terrorism is more important than a bunch of towel-head farmers making a living out of killing people rather than doing it for ideological reasons.

I don't know how they know. I'm just going by what I'm told.

Most addictive - nothing much unpleasant about the actual result from taking it apart from maybe the first time when it would usually make the person multi-vomit.
The lengths people go to to get more is a different story though.

Heroin users should be arrested and put in solitary. Brighton is full of Smackheads. They are responsible for a lot of crime. Whilst I can sympathise with the relatives, everyone knows heroin/smack kills and ruins lives. We should be doing more to drive this poison from our streets.
i believe this to be incorrect procedure in trying to "help" the drug problem. in fact, a policy of punishing the user serves only to excaerbate the situation.

most of the heroin users i know are suburban white kids from middle class semi-affluent neighborhoods. we've taught our youth culture that youth is a time of irresponsibility and being stupid, and also to live for today and experience life to it's fullest. life for middle class kids is unchallenging and easy, so they create struggles for themselves. one may try the "worst drug in the world" because they are bored as all hell and willing to risk it for the thrill. if it turns out to be as bad as everyone said, then at least it's something to do.

dishonest propaganda has used irrational scare tactics to make marijuana seem much worse than it is. kids try it anyway (it's human nature to explore), and find that what they were told wasn't true. then they begin to think, "if they lied to me about that, then what else isn't true? i've heard heroin is the worst? maybe it's not."-- then they try it, like it, realize that they're not addicted with one hit, and do it again. it takes awhile to build up a habit, and like other addictions, there are various strengths of control a person descending into addition can impose over his/her usage... but continued use always results in addiction. doesn't matter if you smoke it, snort it, shoot it or shove it up your butt... you can say: only every now and then or only on the weekends, or only after work, if there is any use of heroin at all, the frequency will increase to the point of addiction. the only way to stop is to stop.

i've known people to become addiction to heroin by first using oxycotin until oxys weren't doin it for them anymore and so say to the dealer, what else you got?

crystal meth is a huge problem. getting worse. it'll age you 30 years in 2. rot your teeth and suck your skin to your bones, make you think you can't live without it. this drug cuts across every social strata. i once knew a retired cop who got addicted to it at 65. lawyers, doctors, school principals, gangbangers, chess enthusiasts...

i don't know what the "answer" is, but honestly educating people about the effects of various drugs would be a good start. punishing the user isn't only inneffective, it's counterproductive.

buffallobill, i'm sorry to hear about your nephew. may great strength flow to his family and friends.

You're right pot, marijuana, MJ, dagga, whatever you call it is not the devil. Not good, but then booze and cigs are worse.
Anyway, some people now have new corneas and heart valves. Strong valves from lots of exercise and nearly new corneas (he was not much of a reader).
Thanks for the thoughts.
