But you always have that hope deep down inside that your children can be spared some of lifes pain through your own experiences.

LOL...you're a retard. Times change, human behaviours don't.
I'm still holding my gut laughing at that statement. I once believed my parents were clueless....afterall...times have changed.
Only to find out years later that my own father had quit school same grade as I did....my own father left home and got into troubles with the law...just like I did....wo ...[text shortened]... it again I don't think I would ever leave! Even if it meant a 9PM curfew untill I was 40!
There's tons of examples like this.

My school has regular drug searches with dogs, and at my old one we had to go through that constantly. It's really not that much of an inconvenience. Nor is a hardship. Hence it doesn't count as something that your parents need to go through to see your point of view.

I was wishing there was some way some of these ungrateful little snots could be put in the position of having to pay the mortgage or rent, pay utilities, pay for food, pay for clothes, pay for entertainment, pay, pay, pay for somebody as ungrateful as themselves for about 6 months. Then I realized someday they'll pay for a lot longer because what goes around comes around. Someday they'll have kids just like themselves.

Bah! Keep 'em locked in the closet until they're at least 30. What's wrong with over-protective?
