Seriously....this is wisdom speaking. Listen to it.

Remember your parents weren't always old. They've been where you are now and want the best for you. Listen to them.

Treat them with respect and like adults. Also act like one yourself. Also try spending more time out of the house. Should do the trick.

I hate when people say that. My parents have NOT been where I have. Times have changed.

Yes, youngsters of now are even more ignorant and short sighted than one or two generations ago...

Times have changed for sure. I had experiences that were different than my parents, but human nature hasn’t changed. I won’t bore anybody with what they went through, but they had a very tough life and what they eperienced instilled character in them. They tried to teach me some of the things they learned, gave me love and discipline, kept me fed and clothed. It left me admiring and respecting them. I just wish I were more like my father, but doubt I could have survived the things he went through that made him what he was. Am I the only one that’s grateful for what my parents did for me and has a respect for the wisdom of older people?

I bet they haven't changed as much as you think. I bet your parents have socks in their drawers older than you are. They were just like you when you were a kid. But they just learned a few things that you too will someday learn if you survive long enough.

LOL...you're a retard. Times change, human behaviours don't.
I'm still holding my gut laughing at that statement. I once believed my parents were clueless....afterall...times have changed.

Only to find out years later that my own father had quit school same grade as I did....my own father left home and got into troubles with the law...just like I did....worse than I ever did actually. My own parents grew up in an era of drugs and rebellion that we could never comprehend. So don't always be so sure that you know your parents.

It's our job as parents to become better examples for our children and we don't always share the Gods honest truth as to what we have experienced in life. I never knew about my parents untill I was MUCH older.

Should have kept my ungratefull behind at home. Heck....to do it again I don't think I would ever leave! Even if it meant a 9PM curfew untill I was 40!

It's a fine line sometimes. And either way as the parent you hurt.

I agree to let them make their own mistakes and learn some of lifes tougher lessons the hard way.

But you always have that hope deep down inside that your children can be spared some of lifes pain through your own experiences.
