so it is about 100-150 higher than real ratings so 2000 players are actually 1850 and so on. I usually play around 1700 range so would I be around mid 1800's once i play enough games????

It's a bit inflated respect to other sites.
A couple days ago I won a game on Gameknot:me1274-opponent1355 and I gained only 12 points.
I was a little disappointed and went to calculate how much i'd gain if the game was played on RHP (use the tool at www7.brinkster.com/obyrne/rhp_rc.htm).........well,on RHP I should have gained 7 points more!
The obvoius conclusion is that here there's a too high factor(or costant)in the way rating are calculated,so they result higher than other sites or OTB.
it also says on this site that if a player beats you who you are expected to beat 100% of the time if they beat you 4 times your rating drops 100 points this is hard for me to understand. I do know that in the uscf rating system. you start off with your first opponent rating while you are playin provisional games. if you beat him then your rating is four hundred points higher than his if you lose then your rating is four hndred points lower and so on, until it stables out. after 25 games you no longer have a provisional rating and you can gain or lose as much as 32 points in one game depending on your opponents playing strength. so if a 1200 player beat a 1600 player the 1200 player would gain 32 points and the 1600 player would lose 32 points...and so on is this the way it work here or is it different.
IMHO, it is very inexact. It doesn't reflect the really power of a player.
Not for the mathematics involved in the calculations.
It does not take into account that many people that have lots of time to play in a dayly basis has the greater chances of collecting points against weaker players.
It favours quantity over quality.

so what is it quality or quantity. I can't play that many games and still focus on intelligent moves. I need to think every move through clearly. I may win some I may lose some and draw a few but if you beat me you have truly earned it because I take my time and think, I never play more than a handful of games at a time I suspect that it will take awhile for my rating to reflect this but once it does I feel it should be fairly accurate. my battle plan once I am no longer a 1200p is to play a 1200 player if I beat them then i will go to 1300 if I beat them 1400 and so on and so on until i lose. I will then hover in that bracket for awhile and take my chances at the next bracket. probably melowing out around 1800 or so if what I hear is correct.

Originally posted by RavelloThis is true, but by the same token if u were in your opponent's shoes u would've lost less points than here on RHP. So, another conclusion could be that ratings here and on GK (gameknot) are both about the same because eventually in theory u would level out to the same rating (or close)
