@trev33 said7, surely?
Should be an easy question, right?
I say 7
Some say 6
Others say 5.
The penguins of Antarctica are not happy at the people who say 5.
Or is this a trick question!? 😯

@divegeester saidThat's what we in the UK/Ireland are taught, apparently others are taught that the Americas are one like in the Olympic rings, interesting to see what people in the States say.

@trev33 saidMany people in the US will have a US centric mindset, especially after having never left their home country in their entire lives, in some cases having never left their home state their entire lives.

@divegeester saidTrue but not many of the other Americas represented here, Stees for Canada I guess. Can't think of any others.

There are six, all with their own tectonic plate:
Africa
Antarctica (of course) [can't think of people not counting that one]
Ozeania (containing Australia)
Eurasia (the very concept of Europe as a continent of their own is a cultural concept, rather than a geographical one)
South America
North America
O and I learned at school that there are 7, in Germany Europe is seen as continent, though there were interesting discussions about the eastern limit (Ural mountain...but why)
@ponderable saidDamn you and you’re stupid intelligence!

@divegeester saidBy conventional standards there are seven continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia/Oceania, and Antarctica. Some scientists add an eighth, Zealandia, most of which is under water in the South Pacific. Zealandia's area is nearly 2 million square miles (5 million square kilometers) — about half the size of Australia.
