As I said to you and others before,

lots of people here wear a mask. They use a persona which is borrowed.
Very few people here speak as themselves. They have a user name.
In some cases several user names. Johnny Longwoody is my user name.
But Johnny Longwoody is not my name and it is not who I am.

Some people here know my real name. My first name is Michael
and I do not wear a mask. The scales tell you that I stand for
honesty, truth, justice and fairness. There is more to me
    than meets the eye.

Prayer is just a side issue to show that we are frail humans
who cannot solve everything alone. As America has seen this week.
The forces of nature can be far more powerful than any human.

I recollect reading some time ago that patients who are prayed for are more likely to pull through than someone who isn't prayed for.

As an atheist myself I don't believe in any intervention from God but accept that messages of love, support and positivity could possibly have an effect on improving their condition.

You wouldn't need to pray specifically in wishing someone well but at the same time I do believe that prayers would have a positive effect.

Michael, I'm beginning to realize the extent to which we're similar in values (though different in place of birth, personality and social style). There are Five RHP Members who have known me inside out by phone for several years. One, I called last night to give 20 seconds worth of timely information about an issue of mutual interest. We laughed heartily during the next hour. At one point, we agreed how much we're the same human beings in these public forums as on a long distance call. We share the view that unless a person's guilty of some crimes or socially timid or a coward, why hide? (gb)

Ah ha ha. If I told you who I was Bobby,
I'd have to send in a swat team to take you out.
There are no photos of me on facebook and I don't
    do twitter.

    Beware the shadows..........

I saw another thread in debates, someone wants to abolish the IRS.

"Ah ha ha. If I told you who I was Bobby...": I'd say, "Hey, Michael ______, how's that old pain".

"There are no photos of me on facebook", nor of me.

    "I don't do twitter", nor do I.

"I saw another thread in debates, someone wants to abolish the IRS; I'm well aware of the content of these forums.

We've also both become intensely fascinated with poetry over many years.

We probably have similar tastes in food, wine, women and song. Double date sometime? (lol)

Main reason we clashed early (over an unfortunate underestimation of comfort zones on my part) involved a rough edged compliment that struck too close to home. Once damaged, our potential for friendship became impossible to repair (though I wanted to more than you knew). Glad to rendezvous on Facebook by Personal Message any day or night you choose. -me

Yes, in my life prayer helps, every day. If it is meaningful for someone, it is appropriate to share that, imo. The link attached may offer more context for you.

If you believe in prayer, say you will be praying for an individual. I donot believe in prayer and so i just tell people they are in my thoughts and my heart.

People seem to mostly pray to get things. Those that don't get everything they pray for then just stop praying.

Even Jesus did not get all of his prayers answered as he pleaded with the Father to spare him the cross.

Prayer is not just about "getting things". In fact, if you care less what the will of God is praying is futile. The power of prayer can be found when your will joins that of God.
