ive got 5 spades. my best is a 112inch wide grip, alloy composite, integrated birch/oak 75inch shaaaaafft. its superb getting through top soil but is equally good in a clay environment. both my kids have rubber molded, light gripping, easy action tefflar easy digs. i know that might shock a few of you, but they are kept locked at the digging club and i only let the children dig under adult supervision.
its mans right to dig soil and i dont want any long-haired librals telling me otherwise, if you dont like spade go and live in russia.

With a steady hand, you can achieve a level of precision that nobody would notice it had been used.
When you are on your knees and surrounded, it will be your best friend.
I think it is everyone's duty to keep our borders protected and if something sneaks into my bed, ITS GOING DOWN!!! (unless it happens to be a lovely daffodil or bluebell).
