@Ponderable
It hasn't actually died as far as I remember, but it was shut down once or twice in the very early years.
The main shutdown that I remember was when things got overloaded with a bunch of 'soap opera drama', and personal attacks. That finally led to a total forum shutdown for a few days, or maybe longer.
When it did come back, the moderator program came with it.
@Ponderable saidThere is certainly less activity than there once was. Perhaps some of it has to do with people getting use to the New Format?
In the time I am a m,ember several times the end of the General Forum was predicted.
Currently we observe low activity... anybody seeing an end of the Forum?

@A-Unique-Nickname saidMostly Snooziane.
It's usually Rusty and snoozann doing that.
PS kudos for Snooziane.
@divegeester saidLet's see if I'm still an RHP programmer.
I wonder if Russ is giving the likes of BigDogg and Orangutan the raises they so richly deserve.
Edit: yep! 😂
@divegeester saidI haven't been.
You do this like you haven’t been lying about it for the last several years.
I’m not against Russ contracting coders, I just wish he’d used people who were good.
I've never programmed for RHP.
I just know more about using computers than you do, and you're not as clever as you think you are.
@Ponderable saidIt's approaching summertime (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).

But yeah, many have announced "the end is near!"
Ain't happening.
